Dr. Hester, a leading ophthalmologist in Little Rock, AR, boasts an impressive academic and professional journey. His career began with graduating valedictorian from Magnolia High School and continued with distinguished achievements at Hendrix College in Conway, AR. While at Hendrix, he served as Student Senate President and founded Arkansas EDU, an organization uniting Arkansas’s 19 four-year colleges and universities to advocate for higher education within the State Legislature. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Business, receiving both the Mosley Economics and Business Award and the prestigious President’s Medal.
Dr. Hester earned his Doctor of Medicine degree and completed his internship at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), serving as class president. During his time at UAMS, he was awarded the Ethel Brickey Hicks Scholarship and Dean’s Office Scholarship, and inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He then completed an ophthalmology residency at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, culminating in his role as chief resident.
To further refine his surgical skills, Dr. Hester pursued a fellowship in cornea, refractive (LASIK), and anterior segment surgery at the renowned Cullen Eye Institute at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. This specialized training allows him to provide advanced eye care to patients at his Little Rock eye clinic. His commitment to the field extends to leadership roles within the Arkansas Medical Society, the California Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons Board of Trustees, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
