Pace of Play and Caddie Services at Top of the Rock
Expect a quicker pace at Top of the Rock compared to Big Cedar’s other courses. The average round takes approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. While forecaddies are available by request for all Big Cedar courses, including Top of the Rock, contacting [email protected] is recommended to secure one in advance.
Dress Code Requirements
Maintaining a polished appearance is encouraged at Big Cedar Lodge. For men over 12, proper golf attire, including collared shirts, is required. Women are also expected to wear appropriate golf attire, excluding bathing suits and tank tops.
Golf Cart Amenities and Rider Fees
All golf carts at Big Cedar are equipped with built-in GPS units for navigation. However, note that Mountain Top is a walking-only course and provides digital range finders at no charge in exchange for an I.D. If you have a non-playing companion, rider fees apply at most courses: $45 for Payne’s Valley, Ozarks National, and Buffalo Ridge, and $30 for Top of the Rock. At Mountain Top, riders may walk along at no charge. Anyone hitting shots must pay a greens fee.
Mountain Top Course Accessibility
While Mountain Top is a walking course with some inclines, the majority is relatively flat or downhill, totaling less than 2 miles. Although carts are not permitted on Mountain Top except for walking pushcarts, Big Cedar offers cart and disability accommodations at their other courses, weather permitting. This includes Top of the Rock, Payne’s Valley, Ozarks National and Buffalo Ridge.
Course Conditions and Equipment
Green speeds at Big Cedar courses generally average between 9.5 and 11 on the Stimpmeter. All players are required to use their own set of clubs for pace of play and etiquette. Rental clubs are available in the pro shop if needed. The fairways at Payne’s Valley, Buffalo Ridge, Mountain Top, and Ozarks National feature Zoysia grass, while Top of the Rock showcases Bermuda and rye tee boxes. All courses boast bentgrass greens. The Zoysia fairways typically enter dormancy from late October through March, regaining their green hue in April. Soft spike golf shoes or tennis shoes are required footwear.
Group Size and Beverage Policy
To maintain a smooth pace of play, Big Cedar limits groups to a maximum of four players. Larger groups can split into smaller foursomes or threesomes. Outside alcoholic beverages are prohibited, but a selection of drinks is available for purchase at the pro shop.
