He is the son of Ata Johnson (born Feagaimaleata Fitisemanu) and professional wrestler Rocky Johnson (born Wayde Douglas Bowles). With a lineage deeply rooted in wrestling, Dwayne’s father was of Black Nova Scotian descent from Canada, and his mother hailed from a Samoan background; her father was the renowned wrestler Peter Fanene Maivia.
