The main section of Rocks State Park serves as a central hub for recreation, featuring three designated picnic areas perfect for family outings and gatherings. Hikers can traverse over 3.5 miles of well-maintained trails, immersing themselves in the natural beauty of the park. Deer Creek meanders through the park, providing ideal spots for fishing, wading, and tubing, particularly appealing during warmer months. Beyond the main area, Rocks State Park extends to satellite locations, including Falling Branch, the home of the stunning Kilgore Falls, and the secluded Hidden Valley, each just a short drive away, offering diverse experiences within the broader park.

Planning Your Visit to Rocks State Park:

Rocks State Park welcomes visitors from sunrise to sunset, allowing ample time to appreciate its attractions. For those planning picnics at Wilsons, Hills Grove, or Rock Ridge Picnic Areas, hours are from 9 a.m. to sunset between April and October, and 10 a.m. to sunset from November to March. Please note that service charges at these picnic areas are payable in cash only. Kilgore Falls shares the same operating hours as the picnic areas. If your planned activities require you to be in the park outside of these standard hours, it’s recommended to contact the park directly to make arrangements.

Important Reservation Information for Kilgore Falls:

Please be aware that reservations are mandatory on weekends and holidays to access Falling Branch (Kilgore Falls) from Saturday, May 25th, 2024, through Labor Day. Reservations can be secured starting the Monday before your intended visit, commencing on Monday, May 20th for the weekend of May 25th. To make your reservation, please visit the YourPassNow website at https://yourpassnow.com/ParkPass/md/kilgore. Passes become available each Monday prior to the desired visit, starting on Monday, April 26th.
