For visitors planning to bring horses, mules, or donkeys, please be aware of Iowa state regulations regarding interstate animal transport. A current Certification of Veterinary Inspection (health certificate) and a negative Coggin’s test (EIA) are required for animals transported across state lines. This documentation must accompany the animal into Iowa and is applicable to equestrian camping, day-use, and trail riding in all state-owned parks and forests. The concession store typically operates from roughly April 15th through October 15th, with daily hours (closed on Easter). During the peak season, from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, hours are extended: Sunday 7 AM to 7 PM, Monday through Thursday 7 AM to 8 PM, and Friday and Saturday 7 AM to 9 PM. The concession offers a wide range of rentals including pontoons, fishing boats, canoes, kayaks, and pedal boats. Directions:
- From Interstate 80: Take Kellogg Exit number 173 onto Hwy 224. Head north on Hwy 224 through Kellogg, IA, for approximately 6 miles. Turn East onto County Road F-27 and travel for about 3 miles. The third right turn south will lead you to the campground entrance.
- From Hwy 30: Take the Hwy 14 exit and head south on Hwy 14. Hwy 14 will go through Laurel and intersect with County Road F-17. Turn east onto F-17 and continue until Hwy 224. Turn south on Hwy 224 for approximately 2 miles. At the intersection of 224 and County Road F-27, turn east onto Hwy F-27. Travel approximately 3 miles and turn south into the third park entrance off County Road F-27.
