Gottlieb and his contemporaries established numerous first ascents, including the renowned classic route “Comfortably Numb,” laying the foundation for future generations of climbers. The 1980s saw further development with climbers like Curtis Glass and Gene Smith adding a significant number of traditional lines, expanding the trad climbing opportunities.
