As a Paramedic at Castle Rock Ambulance Service, you will play a critical role in delivering compassionate and expert pre-hospital care to our community. You will be responsible for responding to 911 calls and providing crucial care during ground transports, ensuring patient comfort and safety at all times. Essential Responsibilities of a Castle Rock Paramedic
This physically demanding role requires sustained physical effort, including standing, sitting, stooping, squatting, kneeling, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing. A core requirement is the ability to lift a minimum of 100 pounds unassisted. Your essential job functions include:
- Equipment Handling: Lifting and carrying medical equipment to the location of patients to facilitate the delivery of immediate emergency care.
- Patient Transport: Safely lifting, carrying, and maneuvering ill and/or injured patients, including the pushing and pulling of stretchers in various environments.
- Accessing Patients: Climbing stairs and navigating diverse terrains to reach patients in need and safely extricate them from challenging locations.
Qualifications to Excel in Castle Rock Employment as a Paramedic
To be considered for Paramedic employment at Castle Rock Ambulance Service, candidates must meet the following essential qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- Age: Minimum 21 years of age.
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent GED.
- Paramedic Program: Graduation from a nationally accredited Paramedic Program.
- Certification:
- Current Wyoming State EMT-P certification, or
- NRP Certification with the ability to obtain Wyoming Certification by your start date, or
- Current EMT-P certification from a replica state (subject to approval by the CRHD Ambulance medical director).
- Driver’s License: Valid state driver’s license (minimum equivalent to a Wyoming Class “C” license). Your driving record must comply with the standards outlined in the Employee Handbook and meet the requirements for insurability by our auto insurance provider.
- Basic Life Support (BLS): Current American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or ASHI Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS): Current American Heart Association or ASHI Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or EPC: Current American Heart Association or ASHI Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or NAEMT EPC certification.
- Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) or ITLS: Current NAEMT PHTLS or ITLS Certification, or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire.
- Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS) or Equivalent: Current NAEMT AMLS certification or approved CRHD equivalent, or willingness to obtain within 1 year of hire.
- Physical Agility: Successful completion of a CRHD-approved physical agility test.
- Patient Care Skills: Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality, compassionate patient care in response to 911 calls and during ground transports.
- Independent Work & Time Management: Ability to work autonomously with minimal direct supervision, demonstrating strong time management skills.
- Liability Awareness & Quality Control: Comprehensive understanding of potential liability issues related to patient care errors and a commitment to quality control processes.
- Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional ability to interact effectively with the public and colleagues, exercising tact, diplomacy, and sound judgment in diverse circumstances.
- Technical Proficiency: Competency with Microsoft products, WATRS, and other Windows and web-based applications.
- Pressure Management: Ability to perform effectively under pressure in emergency situations.
- Customer Service & Communication: Excellent customer service, written, and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- EMS Experience: Previous experience in a high-performance EMS environment.
- BLS Instructor: AHA BLS Instructor certification.
