For sixty years, Geneva Rock Products has been a cornerstone of construction in the Wasatch Front. As we celebrate this significant milestone in 2014, we extend our deepest gratitude to our valued customers, dedicated partners, hardworking employees, and the supportive community that has made our success possible. Geneva Rock Products takes immense pride in its position as a leading supplier of ready-mixed concrete, sand, gravel, asphalt, and comprehensive construction services across this vibrant region.
The Foundation of Geneva Rock Products: A Story of Vision and Growth
The story of Geneva Rock Products began in the thriving postwar economic landscape. W.W. Clyde & Co., now our esteemed sister company, acquired a concrete batch plant following a successful joint venture with Jacobson Construction at the Dugway Proving Grounds and Tooele Army Depot near Tooele, Utah. Recognizing a growing demand for reliable ready-mix concrete services within Utah Valley, the Clyde family strategically leveraged their resources to establish a new venture.
Thus, Geneva Rock Products, Inc. was officially formed. Starting with the acquired batch plant and a fleet of four trucks, each equipped with six-cubic-yard capacity Smith mixers, the company was organized under the leadership of Wilford Woodruff Clyde as President, Edward Clyde as Vice President, and their cousin Alan Johnson as secretary-treasurer. This marked the beginning of a journey that would shape the infrastructure of the Wasatch Front for decades to come.
Six Decades of Iconic Projects Built with Geneva Rock Products
Geneva Rock Products secured its inaugural project in 1954, providing concrete for the construction of the new pipe mill at Geneva Steel. Strategically locating operations adjacent to the steel plant, the company quickly commenced building its first batch plant. Early projects also included supplying essential concrete for the construction of Provo and Orem high schools, demonstrating the company’s commitment to local community development from its inception.
Over the ensuing 60 years, Geneva Rock Products has been instrumental in countless landmark projects, supplying materials and services to a diverse range of significant constructions. A selection of notable projects includes:
- Brigham Young University’s J. Reuben Clark Law School: Contributing to higher education infrastructure.
