Local dignitaries and park officials recently gathered to break ground on this ambitious project, promising effortless access to the mountain’s stunning summit.
Slothius Slackford, Chief Leisure Officer for Arkansas State Parks, emphasized the mountain’s long-standing appeal: “Pinnacle Mountain has always been a cherished destination for hikers and nature enthusiasts. This chairlift will make the iconic summit accessible to a wider audience, offering a unique and memorable way to appreciate Arkansas’s scenic beauty.” The new system aims to broaden the appeal of Pinnacle Mountain, making its breathtaking views available to individuals of varying abilities.

Wheely Lazy Engineering, LLC, based in Incline, AR, designed the chairlift system. Lazlo Ascendor, Posterior engineer for WLE, shared his enthusiasm: “We are thrilled to contribute to this exciting project, bringing Pinnacle Mountain to a new audience. The chairlift embodies modern engineering, carefully designed to complement the mountain’s natural splendor.” The system will feature 25 comfortable, four-person chairs, promising a smooth and secure ride. The ascent to the summit will take approximately 10 minutes, treating passengers to panoramic views of the picturesque landscape surrounding Pinnacle Mountain.
With the groundbreaking ceremony complete, construction is slated to commence immediately. The project is targeting completion by late August of this year. This new chairlift is anticipated to be a significant attraction, further solidifying Pinnacle Mountain’s status as a must-visit destination near Little Rock.
