Rain Rock Casino Expansion to Transform Yreka into Destination Resort

Yreka’s Rain Rock Casino is poised for a significant expansion, set to transform the entertainment landscape of the region. The casino has announced ambitious plans to construct a sprawling 43,000-square-foot hotel, featuring 80 luxurious rooms and 12 charming cottages. This development is part of a larger project aimed at establishing Rain Rock Casino as a premier destination resort.

Beyond accommodation, the expansion includes increasing the casino floor space to house more slot machines and table games, catering to a wider range of gaming enthusiasts. Adding to the allure, plans are in motion for a 4,000-square-foot events center, designed to host concerts and various gatherings. This versatile space will also serve as a community asset, equipped with a backup generator for use during emergencies. A 15,000-square-foot garden area, complete with a refreshing pool, relaxing hot tubs, and picturesque waterfalls, is also in development, promising an oasis for guests.

According to casino general manager Mike Rose, this expansion is envisioned to make Rain Rock “a true destination resort,” bringing significant economic benefits to the Yreka community. Speaking to the Yreka City Council, Rose highlighted the anticipated creation of 50 to 60 new jobs, further boosting local employment.

The expansion project includes key enhancements to the gaming experience. The casino space will nearly double its capacity for slot machines and will introduce a dedicated non-smoking area for guests’ comfort. Addressing accessibility, additional parking will be constructed south of the existing casino. Furthermore, guests can look forward to expanded food and beverage options within the resort.

The timeline for these exciting additions anticipates an opening in late 2022 or early 2023, subject to construction progress and weather conditions. Rose mentioned the Karuk Tribe’s strong partnership with the city of Yreka and indicated plans to present architectural drawings to the council later in the year, offering the community a detailed preview of the resort’s new look.

Yreka Mayor Duane Kegg expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, “I think it’s great and should help bring more people to the community.” He also noted the minimal impact on city resources, thanks to the existing agreement where Rain Rock Casino contributes to the city by covering the salary and vehicle expenses for a police officer.

Strategically located just off Interstate 5 on Yreka’s east side, Rain Rock Casino benefits from stunning mountain views. Established in April 2018 after years of planning, Rain Rock Casino currently offers a 36,000-square-foot gaming facility featuring 349 slot machines, eight card tables, a stage, restaurant, bar, and cafe. This expansion marks a significant step in its evolution as a comprehensive entertainment and resort destination in Northern California.
