- Knot Craft and Harness Tie-in: Learn the fundamental knots essential for secure climbing and how to properly tie into your harness.
- BUS Belay Method: Understand and practice the Body Up System (BUS) of belaying, a foundational technique for controlled rope management.

After completing the Basic Belay Class, you’ll need to demonstrate your newly acquired skills in a belay test administered by our River Rock staff before your first climb. This ensures that you have retained the necessary information and skills to belay confidently and safely within our gym.
Class Details:
- Duration: Approximately 1.5 hours
- Prerequisite: Participants must be 14 years or older
- Class Size: Limited to 4 participants for personalized instruction
- Schedule: Wednesdays, 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM
- Pricing: FREE for River Rock Members, $20 for non-members (Rental gear and day pass are not included in the class fee)
Important Note: To ensure effective learning, belay classes require two participants. If you are the only registrant, you will need to bring a climbing partner. Don’t worry, their class time equipment will be provided free of charge!
