Sunday, July 21st: Ainsworth Rod and Gun Club Events

The fair week starts early with events hosted by the Ainsworth Rod and Gun Club. If you’re interested in shooting sports, Sunday is your day!

  • 3:00 pm: Participate in or watch the Air Pistol, Archery, and BB Gun competitions. Show off your skills or simply enjoy the precision and focus of these events.
  • 6:00 pm: Join the community supper. Bring a dessert and side dish to share and enjoy a potluck-style meal with fellow fair-goers. It’s a great way to connect with the community.

Wednesday, July 24th: Fashion and 4-H Fun

Monday, July 29th: Fairgrounds Clean-Up

  • 5:00 pm: Become part of the fair preparation by volunteering for the Fairgrounds Clean-Up. All volunteers are welcome to help get the grounds ready for the main events.

Tuesday, July 30th: Small Animals and Dog Agility

Tuesday is all about our furry friends, big and small!

  • 9:00 am: The Small Animal Show takes center stage. Come and admire rabbits, poultry, and other small animals as they are judged and showcased.
  • 11:30 pm: Be amazed by the Dog Show Obedience & Agility. Watch talented dogs and their handlers navigate obstacle courses and demonstrate impressive obedience skills.

Wednesday, July 31st: 4-H Focus and Roping Action

Wednesday is packed with 4-H events and exciting roping competitions.

  • 9:00 am – 2:00 pm: 4-H Interview Judging takes place. See 4-H members present their projects and skills to judges, showcasing their hard work and dedication.
  • 9:00 am – Noon: Sharp shooters will compete in the 4-H .22 Rifle – Intermediate and Senior Silhouette. Witness precision marksmanship in this skilled event.
  • 12:00 pm: Enjoy a Free 4-H Family Lunch. Take a break and enjoy a complimentary lunch, perfect for families and 4-H supporters.
  • 1:00 pm: The Target Shoot – Junior, Intermediate, and Senior event follows lunch. Young marksmen will test their skills in this target shooting competition.
  • 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm: Enter Open Class Exhibits. If you have crafts, baked goods, or other exhibits, this is your time to enter them for judging and display.
  • 6:00 pm: Don’t miss the Bit Painter Memorial Dummy Roping & Eddie Davis Memorial Family Roping. Experience the excitement of roping events in honor of these memorials.

Thursday, August 1st: Parade, BBQ, and Free Family Fun Day

Thursday is a highlight with a parade, free BBQ, and a range of free activities for everyone!

  • 8:00 am – 10:00 am: Final chance to Enter Open Class Exhibits. Get your exhibits in for the final judging rounds.
  • 7:30 am: The Working Ranch event starts early, showcasing ranching skills and horsemanship.
  • 8:30 am: Roping events continue, offering more rodeo action.
  • 9:30 am: The Horse Show begins, featuring various equestrian disciplines and beautiful horses.
  • 10:00 am: Deadline for setting up booths. Vendors and exhibitors need to have their booths ready by this time.
  • 6:00 pm: The PARADE starts at BLA and ends at the fairgrounds. Line-up begins at 5:00 pm. Enjoy the colorful parade as it makes its way to the fairgrounds – a true community spectacle!
  • 7:00 pm: Free BBQ & Free Day Activities. Enjoy a delicious free BBQ and participate in fun activities like the Calf Scramble, Hay Scramble, Shoe Kick, Watermelon Crawl, and Sack Race. Perfect for families and kids!

Friday, August 2nd: 4-H Livestock Show and Demolition Derby

Friday brings the excitement of livestock shows and the smashing Demolition Derby!

  • 7:45 am – 8:45 am: Check in and Weigh In for the livestock show participants.
  • 9:00 am: The 4-H Livestock Show begins with the following order: Pig, Sheep, Cattle, Goat, Pen of 3. Support young 4-H members as they showcase their animals in this judged event.
  • 5:00 pm: The 4-H Premium Auction takes place. Support 4-H members by participating in the auction of their premium livestock projects.
  • 6:00 pm: Get ready for the Demolition Derby (Limited Weld, Old School, & Kids Power Wheels), Larry May Memorial 4-H Innovator Award. Experience the adrenaline rush of smashing cars in the Demolition Derby! Also, the Larry May Memorial 4-H Innovator Award will be presented.
  • 9:00 pm: Relax and enjoy the Beer Garden and Music. Unwind with music and refreshments in the beer garden after a day full of events.

Saturday, August 3rd: Mud Volleyball, Tractor Pull, and Rough Stock Challenge

Saturday is the grand finale with mud, horsepower, and rodeo thrills!

  • 9:00 am – Noon: Release of 4-H Exhibits. 4-H exhibitors can pick up their exhibits.
  • 10:00 am: Mud Volleyball Tournament. Get muddy and have fun in the Mud Volleyball Tournament. To sign up a team, call Caleb Lackaff at 402-822-0192.
  • 11:00 am: Tractor Pull (Registration from 9:00 am – 10:30 am). Witness the power and roar of engines at the Tractor Pull. Registration for participants is in the morning.
  • 1:00 pm: Dennis Roggasch Memorial Horseshoe Tournament. Test your horseshoe pitching skills or watch the competition in memory of Dennis Roggasch.
  • 7:00 pm: Rock County Rough Stock Challenge **Admissions is $10**. Experience the thrill of rodeo with the Rough Stock Challenge. Admission is $10. To enter, call Jill Hudson at 402-273-4979. Entries open on July 24, 2024, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm CST.
  • 9:00 pm: Enjoy the final night with Beer Garden and Music. Celebrate the last night of the fair with music and drinks in the beer garden.
