Experience the Historic 9-Hole Course at Rock Creek Country Club

While technically offering 18 holes by playing the front 9 twice, Rock Creek Country Club primarily features a classic 9-hole course, playing to a Par 65 across 4,961 yards (4,536 m). This Washington DC public golf facility holds a special place in golfing history as the second of its kind in the city and was originally designed by the legendary William Flynn. Flynn, a prominent figure in early 20th-century golf architecture, is renowned for designing iconic courses like Shinnecock Hills and Cherry Hills.

Unlike the design at East Potomac, also within the Play DC Golf family, Rock Creek Country Club was intentionally crafted to harmonize with the natural landscape of former farmland and dense hardwood forests. This integration with nature is a defining characteristic of the course, offering a uniquely immersive golfing experience.

Among the three Play DC Golf facilities, Rock Creek Country Club is often considered the most challenging. The back nine, in particular, presents golfers with significant elevation changes and narrow fairways. Conversely, the front nine is generally flatter and more open, featuring shorter par 4s and longer par 3s, providing a balanced test for golfers of varying skill levels. For families and less experienced players, Rock Creek Country Club thoughtfully offers Family Tees, leveling the playing field and making the game more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

Unfortunately, the Back 9 is currently closed for essential safety renovations.
