Round Rock Shooting Juneteenth 2024: Third Suspect Arrested in Deadly Incident

The investigation into the tragic shooting at Round Rock’s Juneteenth celebration in Old Settlers Park continues to unfold, with a third suspect now in custody. The incident, which occurred on June 15, 2024, resulted in two fatalities and injuries to 14 others, sending shockwaves through the community.

On Saturday, July 6, the Round Rock Police Department announced the arrest of 18-year-old Keshawn Dixon in Killeen. Dixon was apprehended and subsequently transported to the Bell County Jail. He faces charges of deadly conduct, a third-degree felony, and authorities have indicated that additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation progresses.

This arrest marks the third individual taken into custody in connection with the shooting at the annual Juneteenth event. Previously, on Friday, June 21, a male juvenile suspect was apprehended at approximately 8:30 p.m. and placed in the Williamson County Juvenile Justice Center. Details surrounding the juvenile suspect are limited due to privacy regulations, but his arrest underscored the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to bring all those responsible to justice.

The initial arrest in the case occurred on Thursday, June 20, when 17-year-old Ricky Thompson III of Manor was taken into custody in Pflugerville by members of the Lonestar Fugitive Task Force. Thompson was booked into the Williamson County Jail and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony. Like Dixon, Thompson may also face additional charges as the investigation advances.

The Round Rock Police Department has stated that the shooting on June 15 originated from an altercation between two groups at Old Settlers Park. Chief Allen Banks acknowledged the complexity of the investigation, emphasizing the dedication to ensuring justice for the victims and their families. The department continues to work diligently, pursuing leads and seeking to identify any other individuals who may have been involved in the deadly event.
