Hilton Sedona Bell Rock: Location and First Impressions
The Hilton Sedona Bell Rock enjoys a prime location just a short drive from Highway 179, making it easily accessible yet peacefully removed from the main tourist bustle. True to its name, the resort is nestled near the iconic Bell Rock formation, providing stunning views and a sense of immersion in Sedona’s natural beauty.
Bell Rock view from Hilton Sedona grounds
While the resort isn’t directly on Sedona’s main street, which some might see as a slight drawback for immediate access to shops and restaurants, we actually appreciated its slightly quieter setting. It offered a more relaxed atmosphere while still being conveniently located near dining options like Johnny’s Rotten Pizza, which was a hit with our kids and within walking distance. The drive into the heart of Sedona is scenic and short, allowing for easy exploration of the town’s attractions.
The approach to the Hilton Sedona Bell Rock is visually striking, with breathtaking red rock views unfolding as you near the property. Parking was ample and straightforward, including convenient spots close to the lobby entrance elevators, simplifying arrival and check-in. The resort features a central entry point, making navigation within the hotel intuitive.
From the moment we stepped into the lobby to exploring our room, the cleanliness and immaculate condition of the Hilton Sedona Bell Rock were immediately apparent, a welcome contrast to a previous experience at another Hilton property. It’s worth noting that Sedona, in general, carries a higher price tag compared to Phoenix, with approximately a 35% increase in costs for accommodations, dining, and souvenirs. This reflects Sedona’s desirability as a premium travel destination.
Cost of Staying at Hilton Sedona Bell Rock
Our two-night stay at the Hilton Sedona Bell Rock during spring break in April came to approximately $822 per night for our family of six. This price point is significant, especially when considering that a comparable villa suite at Disney World for four nights was in the same range.
While we booked somewhat spontaneously, it’s likely that more budget-conscious options exist in Sedona. However, for our desired dates and the amenities offered by the Hilton Sedona Bell Rock, we proceeded with the booking.

Room Details: Suite with Red Rock Views
We opted for a two queen bed suite with a coveted red rock view. Waking up to the sunrise casting a golden glow over the red rocks was undeniably beautiful. However, in retrospect, while the view was lovely, I’m not entirely convinced it justified the additional cost of a few hundred dollars.
The room itself was spacious and well-appointed. The two queen beds were comfortable, particularly after days filled with hiking Sedona’s trails. Each bed was generously equipped with four pillows, and we appreciated the abundance of conveniently located power outlets throughout the room.
The separate living area featured a pull-out sofa bed, which was a hit with our children, providing them with their own dedicated sleeping space.
A kitchenette added further convenience, equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee machine. A dining table seating four, complete with nearby plug-in sockets, served as a functional workspace as well as a dining area.
The bathroom was thoughtfully designed with a separate area for the shower and toilet, partitioned from the sink area. This layout proved to be particularly beneficial for our family, allowing for simultaneous use and increased efficiency during busy morning routines.
Housekeeping and Room Service at Hilton Sedona
Upon arrival, we were informed that housekeeping services were available upon request, deviating from the traditional daily service. However, we were surprised to find that housekeeping did service our room during our stay, tidying up unexpectedly. This is worth noting, especially for guests traveling with valuables or sensitive equipment that they prefer not to be handled.
Regarding room service, it’s important to clarify that the Hilton Sedona Bell Rock does not offer in-room delivery. When we ordered ice cream for the children through room service, we were required to pick it up ourselves from downstairs. While not a major inconvenience, it was a departure from the typical room service expectation, especially when hoping for added convenience after a busy day with kids.
Lobby Ambiance and Amenities
The lobby of the Hilton Sedona Bell Rock is spacious, clean, and welcoming. A dedicated area provides panoramic views of the surrounding red rock landscape. Helpful hiking trail information and tips are also available in the lobby, presented on handy key rings for guests planning outdoor adventures.
For family entertainment within the resort, the lobby features oversized floor games like Connect 4 and Chess, offering engaging activities for both children and adults.
Dining Options: Coffee, Breakfast, and Convenience
A Starbucks outlet is conveniently located within the Hilton Sedona Bell Rock, operating from 5:30 AM to 11:00 AM during our visit. While we didn’t have breakfast at the hotel restaurant, it appeared to be a popular choice, consistently busy with a short wait for seating. This suggested that dining service might be somewhat paced, which is something to consider for families with time constraints.
A convenience store adjacent to the lobby stocks a range of essential items that travelers might have forgotten or need during their stay. While not as extensive as the offerings at larger Hilton resorts, it provided a satisfactory selection of necessities.
S’mores Experience: A Slight Disappointment
The Hilton Sedona Bell Rock advertises a “S’mores by the Fire” experience. However, the marketing doesn’t explicitly mention that the S’mores packages are priced around $15. Furthermore, the number of fire pits available for S’mores roasting is limited and operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Finding an available fire pit can be challenging, and joining another family already using one might feel intrusive. Adding to the disappointment, during our stay, the resort was out of graham crackers, rendering the S’mores packages incomplete. This was a letdown, particularly as we had promised our children S’mores as a treat after their hikes.
Resort Pool and Spa Area
The pool area at the Hilton Sedona Bell Rock is a highlight, beautifully designed with a zero-entry point perfect for toddlers and gradually deepening to around three feet throughout the main pool area.

Life jackets were not provided, so parents should bring their own for young children who require them. Yellow striped beach towels were readily available for guest use.

Adjacent to the pool is a hot tub, accommodating up to ten people, offering a relaxing option for guests.
Final Verdict on Hilton Sedona Bell Rock for Families
Overall, the Hilton Sedona Bell Rock is a stunning resort. Its slightly off-center location, away from Sedona’s main strip, proved to be a benefit for us, offering a tranquil retreat while still being a short and scenic drive from town.
While the red rock views were magnificent, guests seeking to economize might consider rooms without premium views. The resort’s exceptional cleanliness and the friendly demeanor of the staff were consistent positives.
The Hilton Sedona Bell Rock represents a significant investment for a hotel stay. However, the enjoyment our children derived from the pool after active days of hiking, coupled with the clean and comfortable rooms, made it feel worthwhile for our family vacation.
