Important Upcoming Dates at Bird Rock Elementary
Please take note of these important dates for the upcoming months at Bird Rock Elementary:
- Friday, March 7th: No School. Please mark your calendars, there will be no school on this day.
- March 24th – 28th: Early Dismissal for Parent Conferences. Plan accordingly for early dismissal during Parent Conference week. This is a valuable time to connect with your child’s teacher.
- March 31st – April 4th: Spring Break – No School. Enjoy the Spring Break holiday! School will be closed for the entire week.
Enrollment Information for the 2025-2026 School Year
Choice Lottery for 2025-2026
The Choice Lottery for the 2025-2026 school year is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, January 29, 2025. Lottery results will be sent via email starting on Monday, February 3rd, and all notifications will be completed by the end of the business day on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. Please note that Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Choice seats were exclusively offered at dedicated magnet sites that rely on Choice enrollment, including Barnard, Longfellow, Language Academy, Muir, and Mountain View. Resident schools, such as Bird Rock Elementary, will offer TK Choice seats after resident enrollment commences in March, based on available space.
Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Enrollment for 2025-26
Starting in the 2025-26 school year, Universal Transitional Kindergarten (UTK) will be referred to as “TK”. Enrollment for TK at Bird Rock Elementary will begin in March 2025 and will be an online process. Parents will be able to enroll at their school of residence and upload all necessary documentation online. If Bird Rock Elementary reaches full capacity in TK enrollment, our district office will assist in offering seats at the nearest school with available space. It’s important to reiterate that TK Choice seats were initially offered only at dedicated magnet sites (Barnard, Longfellow, Language Academy, Muir, and Mountain View). Resident schools like Bird Rock Elementary will allocate TK Choice seats after resident enrollment begins in March, as space permits.
TK Parent Workshops via Zoom
For parents of incoming TK students at Bird Rock Elementary, we are hosting TK Parent Workshops via Zoom to provide valuable information and answer your questions. We are offering two convenient times:
Option 1:
- Wednesday, March 5, 2025
- 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
- Interpretation services will be available, please log in at 5:15 p.m.
Option 2:
- Thursday, March 6, 2025
- 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
- Interpretation services will be available, please log in at 9:45 a.m.

Summer School Program Information
Below is important information regarding this year’s Summer School program offered by the district. There are some updates to the student registration process, so please read the following message carefully:

Extended School Year (ESY) registration applies to students in all grade levels who are eligible for ESY services.

The district will be offering summer academic programs and summer PrimeTime priority enrollment to eligible unduplicated TK – 6th grade students, their siblings, and students with disabilities (IEP or 504) who meet specific criteria. Families of eligible students will receive an email and text message notification sent to the primary contact information we have on file, starting Monday, February 10, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. The priority enrollment window will be open from Monday, February 10, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. and will close on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at 9:59 p.m.
Priority enrollment criteria for Summer Programs:
- Homeless/foster youth and their siblings
- Low-income students (eligible for free/reduced meals per LCFF) and their siblings
- English Learners and their siblings
- Students with disabilities (IEP/504)
The ELO office will be holding office hours every Wednesday from 1:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., from January 29th through March 27th, for assistance with Summer School program questions.
