The name “Table Rock” originates from a prominent rock shelf that once extended further north from the current Table Rock Complex. This natural platform provided visitors in the early to mid-19th century with exceptional views of the Horseshoe Falls. Over time, natural erosion led to several rockfalls, culminating in a significant event in 1850 when a massive section collapsed into the Niagara Gorge. Legend has it that a carriage washer was on the shelf during this major rockfall; while his carriage was lost to the gorge, he miraculously survived. For safety considerations, the remaining unstable rock structure was intentionally blasted away in 1935, ensuring the security of the area for future generations of visitors to the Table Rock Welcome Centre.

Located just a short distance from Fallsview Boulevard, the Table Rock Welcome Centre is perfectly positioned for your Niagara Falls adventure. Enhance your visit by booking accommodation at one of the nearby Niagara Falls Fallsview Hotels and wake up to breathtaking views every morning! Make the Table Rock Welcome Centre your first stop to fully immerse yourself in the majesty of Niagara Falls.
